Foundation for African Medicine & Education

FAME is a non-profit organization and national NGO entirely focused on advancing quality medical care in rural Tanzania. Operating a full service medical facility (FAME Medical) in the District of Karatu, our aim is to provide communities in the Northern Highlands of Tanzania with a unique healthcare experience – one marked by patient-centered care and high-quality service. With support from our primary partners, our major accomplishments to date include the phased construction, staffing and operation of FAME Medical, the operation of a mobile medical service for 10 years running, and an ambitious, in-house continuing medical education program designed to build local capacity.

Partner and sister organization, also called Foundation for African Medicine & Education, is a registered 501(c)3 in the United States. FAME (USA) is solely dedicated to mobilizing resources and building partnerships in line with our strategic priorities and with strengthening FAME Medical and its providers to meet the most pressing needs of the next generation of families in the Karatu District and beyond.

All of FAME's (USA) resources are dedicated to supporting FAME Medical in Karatu, Tanzania.
